Trinity “Vote No” rap produced by Dallas Rapper Dooney

I was tipped off today on a song that the Vote No! Save the Trinity folks are hoping to use to defeat the Trinity Parkway Referendum. It's a rap produced by local talent urging citizens to get out and defeat the proposition.
The ad is scheduled to run on local hip hop stations K104 and 97.9 The Beat, but I don't think it's made it to air yet. According to one person I spoke with, some of the Trinity Vote (Yes) people were upset by the ad and are contemplating ways to create backlash against it.
Local gospel rapper Dooney (Peculiar Records) performs the song which urges"…ease up on the traffic, ease up on the taxes, November the 6th come out by the masses." Dooney has also produced a song for Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway titled "Pull Yo Pants Up."
My take on the song; fine work as always by Dooney. Peculiar Records has had a link on this site since the beginning. Well produced music, insightful lyrics, it's hard to believe that they packed so much information into 60 seconds.
And don't think they just picked some random cat to read some words that somebody wrote for him. Dooney is big in the community, visiting schools, putting on concerts for youth groups and releasing positive music.
The Trinity Vote people better hope this doesn't make the air, because if it does, listeners will bob their heads all the way to the polls and Vote No with Dooney. I signed the petition and am officially on the fence, but Dooney's got my ears ringing.
Hear the song for yourself.

“The Trinity Vote people better hope this doesn’t make the air, because if it does, listeners will bob their heads all the way to the polls and Vote No with Dooney.”
Are you implying that if the song does not play, that people will not go to the poles, or that they will go to the poles and vote yes? How does this reflect on the listeners of the stations that might play this song?

It’s called marketing. That’s what ads are about, creating something that resonates with people. They make it seem like voting yes will raise taxes. Is that true? I don’t think so but voters may agree with that.
I don’t think that’s a slight at voters, especially because I think it’s a GREAT ad. The beat and hook can fool some, but the fact that it’s rap/hip hop doesn’t deny the fact that ‘Vote No’ is pushing their message.

To me it shows that they are at least committing resources they believe in. Do Black people get mad when Minute Maid has black people on TV trying to sell Black people orange juice during Black shows?…nope.
But if it’s political, people get new and put a whole new slant on it.

orange juice costs, what, $3 for a half gallon? and even if you get suckered into buying crappy Minute Maid, you buy it once then realize you made a mistake and can switch over to Tropicana where you belong. ad campaigns for retail products are hardly the same as a political campaign where something really is at stake
i think this thing is manipulative and wrong

I heard Dewaine Caraway on KNON Tuesday morning and he sounded like Snake Oil Salesmen, the obvious attempt to confuse the public is all the Evidence you need to know it’s a Scam!! Toll Roads are nothing but more TAXES on working people. Mr Caraway, as soon as Lepert and the White Contractors who will build the road get thru using you, you’ll be under indicment by the FBI, and all the Bribe money you recived will go end up going to your defense fund….lol!! Some people never learn.

I’d like to officall start the Movement to force Dewaine Caraway and Ron Price to pull their heads out of their behinds. This tranparent attempt to be relevent boarders on Ignorance. How can 2 Elected officals not know that there are vastly more important issues that need to be address in the Dallas Community? Why don’t you start by speaking Truth to Power instead of violating the civil rights of young people in Dallas? You 2 Cartoon Super Hero Demagogs should pick on someone your own size. Instead you waste media coverage and time looking Stupid! If that was your aim, congratulations you made it!!!
