MediaCurve.com has real time reaction of Rev. Wright’s sermon among African-American and other groups

  • I picked this up off the Dallas Morning News Opinion Blog and Nicole Stockdale. Here’s the premise:

MediaCurve.com played some of Dr. Wright’s sound bites in front of 799 people — Democrats, Republicans and independents — and recorded their reactions (positive vs. negative) in real time.

This is as real as it gets.

If Obama’s “Reverend” and his church are really so sincere about their “non-negotiable commitment to Africa” (as the church’s website says), then why isn’t the “Reverend” screaming at the top of his lungs every single day about the only place on Earth where black people are still enslaved, AFRICA? Oh, maybe it is because they are enslaved by other black people and that doesn’t fit into his narrative or agenda.

      Scale of African slavery revealed
A young survivor of child trafficking in Togo (c) 2002 Jonathan Cohen /Human Rights Watch

The trafficking of human beings is a problem in every African country, says the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef).

The report, which covers 53 African nations, says children are the biggest victims in what is a very complex phenomenon.

The trafficked children can face terrible physical and emotional abuse.

It describes how they are forced into slavery, recruited as child soldiers or sold into prostitution.

In Africa, children are twice as likely to be trafficked as women.

      Slavery: Mauritania’s best kept secret
      By Pascale Harter
      BBC News, Nouakchott

Skyra is a runaway Mauritanian slave. Her earliest childhood memories are of fetching water, tending animals and cooking and cleaning.

“I was tied up all night and all day. They only untied me so I could do my chores. In the end I could barely move my limbs.”

She never earnt a single penny.

“All those years,” she told me, “and I don’t even own a goat”.

Mohamed could not tell me his surname or his age.

As a slave he didn’t own the right to either.

But in a candlelit shack in the sandy outskirts of the capital, Nouakchott, he told me the story of his life.

“I don’t know how I became a slave,” he told me.

“I was just born one. My family were slaves. We did all the hard work for our master and all we received in return was beatings.”

Most slaves in Niger today are the descendents of slaves who were kidnapped in wars and raids centuries ago, and were simply born into their status.

Many slaves in Niger are appallingly abused by their masters.

Slave children are taken away from their parents before they are two-years-old, to break the bonds between parent and child and to eliminate any sense of identity.

I totally agree with Rev. Wright, what is the big deal? Why wasn’t Rev. Falwell and others criticized about the comments he made?

    4. Crystal Says:

NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY IT’S COVER ESPECIALLLY IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE ENTIRE THING.

If you have never sit under the teaching of Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Jr, then you have not lived. You are missing the time of your life. I moved to Dallas about 3 years ago and I had never heard of Daddy J (as his FAMILY calls him). I thank God for having moved to Dallas because I have had he privilage to see and hear the teaching of Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Jr. Daddy J is an awesome man of GOD who takes the WORD of GOD to explain to the people what is going on in the world today. What he is saying is very much true and you for one do not have to agree with everthing that he say. As a matter of fact you do not have to agree with anything he say, BECAUSE YOU HAVE THAT RGHT. Example he may say that Honda is the number one car maker in the world but he choose to buy a Ford. That does not make what he says not be true. And just because I decide to but a Honda does not mean that I ageree with him it just might mean that I like the style of vehicles that they make. (something to thing about huh!!!!!!)

All of that to say, the way the media has taken a single clip of what Daddy J has said in his sermon, should not change the way you feel about the MAN of GOd that we all have came to know and love. So I dare you to take a look at the cover, read the introduction, and read the entire book FOR YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!! Expand your thinking to go beyond what others see and have said. Get the story first hand, therefore when you go to tell it, you tell it alllllllllll the way to the END!!!!!!!!!!

Daddy J, I love you and I WILL continue to support you and your ministry. May God continue to bless you in all that you do.

    6. Chaplain E. Jean Jones Says:

We need more Dr. Wright’s. Thanks to him, truth is being told. I have watched and heard him preach for over ten years.

He has been consistant with his passion to educate and empower.

His sermon helped me to accept my responsibility to the body of Christ. That was to do more than attend church, but to preach God’s liberating Word.

Thank God for Dr. Wright and his passion.
