Obama leading Texas Senatorial Convention delegate count

As of 1:10 p.m. on Sunday, Burnt Orange Report reported results of the Texas Senatorial Conventions with 83% (6,365) of the total delegates (7,64) counted - 55% of the conventions tallied. Of the total delegates count reported, Senator Barack Obama has garnered 56% (3,561 delegates) and Senator Clinton 44% (2,804).
Obama did extremely well in the Dallas County conventions. In State Sen. Royce West’s District 23, Obama won 82% (306) of the delegates. If Clinton had not received at least 15% from the precinct convention representative, then all of the districts 373 state delegates would have gone to Obama. Sen Clinton gained 67 delegates from District 23.

As a delegate to the 23rd senatorial convention, I swelled with pride as african americans, hispanics, anglos, gays, disabled, young and old all came together for a common purpose, to support “their” candidate. The process was looooong, arduous and sometimes combative, but necessary.
I arrived at 8:00 a.m. and did not leave until the final report of the nominations concluded at 2:00 a.m. and I loved every minute of it!
Democracy as it “should be” has finally arrived to Dallas!
I predict that when the census occurs in 2010 and redistricting is complete, African Americans will be positioned to gain a US Senate seat, Gubenatorial seat and a host of other local, state and national seats. I give U S Senator and Presidential Candidate Barack Obama credit for his vision, campaign and audacity to believe that a black man could win the Presidency of the United States.
If you are wondering which candidate I am supporting, I am supporting Barack Obama! I was elected to become a delegate to the state convention as well!
Since Barack Obama carried Dallas County by a wide margin, why would any elected official in Dallas County, especially an african american elected official support Hillary Clinton?
