Forty years ago today, Dr. Martin Luther King delivered his "I've been to the Mountaintop" speech. The speech was delivered at the Bishop Charles Mason Temple Church of God in Memphis, Tennessee. It would turn out to be his last, as Dr. King was assassinated at the Lorraine Hotel the next morning.
Don't forget to watch the CNN special Witness to Murder detailing the events of the assassination tonight at 8 PM Central.

I work for one of the major health insurance companies and we get meaningless emails that are sent to our entire office entitled “Today in Diversity”. These emails highlight anniversary dates of things such as the invention of candy and other pop culture events. During black history month 2 emails were sent highlighting the usual sport and entertainment figures. So today I sent the lady who sends the emails out an email to inform of the important date in our history . Dr. King’s last speech before his murder. She opened the email and read it at 10:07am. Well I am home and it is 6:58pm and I am still awaiting a response or for the information to be forwarded to the rest of our co-workers….. I will be right back at her tomorrow on the 40th anniversary of his death to see if that qulaifies as worthy of a “Today in Diversity” email…Because if it doesnt I will make sure that nothing else does either.
