Ed Rendell and Minister Louis Farrakhan

I have 21 posts saved as drafts that will probably never be published. One of them that I started on March 26th was titled "Should Ed Rendell, Hillary Clinton surrogate, denounce and reject Minister Louis Farrakhan?"
Well of course the Pennsylvania governor can't denounce and reject the minister. Not after all the praises he has showered upon him.
It was Roland Martin who first emailed me the New York Times story of Ed Rendell’s support of Minister Farrakhan while mayor of Philadelphia. What’s so shameful is that Ed Rendell, Jack Kemp, and many others realize the truth and acknowledge it while Clinton and others harp on the fears of everyday Americans who may not know better.
Hillary Clinton, just like most on the right, wants to play politics with the minister when the boots on the street reality just isn’t what it’s made out to be. Wisdom brings understanding, and The Nation of today is not The Nation of 25 or 30 years ago, plain and simple. John McCain is in Selma telling people that he admires those who marched on Bloody Sunday and I’m supposed to believe it. Min. Farrakhan tells us he has rethought some of his previous positions and there’s no way his heart can change.
So what says Rendell? Hopefully he will tell the truth. That he meant every word that he said that day, and we can leave it at that.

I believed it when Malcolm wrote that he had changed his thoughts. I haven’t seen where Farrakhan has said something similar, but I would take it at face value if he did (and watch his actions to see if he backs it up.) I don’t know why you wouldn’t accept McCain’s admiration of the Bloody Sunday marchers. I’m not even sure why you think it would be a question — it was Dixiecrats who resisted the Civil Rights Movement, and Republicans and moderate Democrats who busted the opposition. I can’t understand the disconnect where a Republican’s dedication to civil rights is in question because he is a member of the party of Lincoln and the party that opposed the Democrat filibusters of the Civil Rights Acts.

Phelps,
As quite as it is kept, I’ve kind of liked McCain in the Senate up until his recent conservative conversion. But for a man who voted against and worked to undo the King holiday to talk about how he’s so down for the plight of Black folks doesn’t real jive with me.

McCain has said that he was against another Federal holiday in general; I don’t see why that has to be something against Rev. King personally. He’s also said (long before this election cycle) that he regretted the vote now that he knows how important it was to so many people. There’s no doubt it effected him greatly when they announced Dr. King’s assassination over the prison loudspeakers.
I’m also not personally sure that Rev. King would agree with having his birthday worshiped as a national holiday. Seems awful close to idolatry.
(Geez, I’m sitting her defending McCain even though I’m not going to vote for him because I’m afraid that he is a fascist.)

I feel the Rev. Wright has been assassinated by the press ONLY to attack Obama. This out of fear a black man will get in the White House. It continues to be an attack on Obama who is not black or white YET he IS the best America has to offer. Obama wants a CHANGE, Hillary just wants to be president. I am supporting Obama no matter what his enemies said about him. Why is the press not hitting Hillary for the numerous untruths and half-thruths she has and continues to make. She DOES NOT have 35 years of experience. What of all the people who have died in question that were associated with the Clintons. Obama has 20 years experience in government in addition, John F. Kennedy only had 4 years and he became president. Frankly, I am tired of the negative attacks and false promises of Hillary Clinton. She does not know what the elderly people of color have had to deal with to come from where they were to get where they are. She has NOT a hint of the suffering black people have had and still have. The attacks on Obama for what someone else said, prove there is still much racism in this nation that is ours also and we helped to build. It it time for Hillary to go home and “make cookies.” I strongly resent the attacks on Obama, yes, the anger IS real. We have people who are not of color who also strongly resent the attacks, they supported blacks and many lost their lives as well.YES, OBAMA is the ONLY one in this race for president who can do the job of making CHANGE in the United States. The others are the same old song. The press is keeping this alive to continue to attack Obama. Why have we not heard the remarks of the honorable Condoleezza Rice? Where is the press now? Yes, Jeremiah Wright has been lynched by the press and so has Barack Obama as well as his wife Michele. Sean Connity has misrepresented her words. I hope he will be sued when this is all over by both the Obams’s and by the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright. He is a disgrace to FOX. Hate shows ALL over his face and his lips drip with jealousy, envy, hatred for people of color.
