A Tale of Two Conventions

As soon we got off the plane in Denver, you could feel that something special was about to take place. There were people holding signs of all types. We talked to delegates from all over the country. What was more, there were people in town for vacation or to visit, and they all weighed in on the DNC Convention.
Barack Obama supporters were enthusiastic, walking the streets taking it all in. Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, young and old, the atmosphere is electric.
But then there’s the Hillary Clinton supporters. It’s like they have their own pitty party going on. One guy told us he’ll vote for Barack Obama in November, but he won’t campaign or raise funds like he usually does for the Democrats. One lady I talked to seemed sad that she was even going to Denver. She wore a shirt that said “Thanks Hillary” The Hillary supporters are garbed out…but so are Obama supporters.
When we got on the plane I heard the first of many conversations broken up into “Hillary Supporters” and “Obama Supporters.” One vendor pulled us aside in the Red Lion (Texas Delegation) and told us to “watch out for the Hillary people.” I’m not sure what we were supposed to watch out for, but he was pretty adamant about it. I heard a conversation between three “hard-working, blue-collar, middle class” voters who said “they need to just get over it,” speaking of Clinton supporters, “it’s time to move on.”
Not so sure they’re ready to do that with talk of an 18 million voters protest scheduled for later this week. When we get a read on this Hillary for V.P. petition, we’ll let you know.

MSM has likely exacerbated the situation by broadcasting that the Hillary Clinton supporters are angry that Barack Obama never seriously considered her for VP. They also reported that Obama didn’t consult either Bill or Hillary in making his selection.
You know I can’t write my immediate reaction to that crap because I’m trying not to cuss. Let me just say who died and made the Clintons the King and Queen of the Democratic Party?
Anyhoo, I’m keeping with you through your tweets and utterz. Be Blessed.

Shawn I am looking forward to the rest of your coverage. As far as the Clinton supporters go they are taking their cues from them. The Clintons are poor losers and that is representative of their followers.

Looking forward ti hearing more from you on this. They seriously need to get over it. As an act of kindness they are putting Hillary on the DNC ballot, so I hope nothing crazy pops off. It’s seriously time to get over it. But if the shoe were on the other foot, I’m sure some of us would be doing the same thing.

Dukakis. (Although really it goes back to Kennedy.)
Obama has made a classic error, recognized by Ralph Waldo Emerson: If you strike at a king, you must kill him. Obama decided to strike at Bill to win the primary (saying that he was pandering to white racists), but he failed to kill him politically (making the allegation stick.)

you can tell that Barack has inspired a whole new set of peeps into politics. otherwise i think folks would know that its conventional to have roll calls and delegate fights at conventions, is not about the Clintons.
having at least a curiosity about history would provide some perspective. CSPAN is streaming old convention clips including Teddy K’s tantrums at 72 and 80 conventions.
Taking a look at these historical speeches might help show that the Clintons are being mild and getting frustrated because people who don’t know the history of conventions cant see that they are being way more supportive than Teddy was way back then.
CSPAN hub just posted HRCs press conference that may help Barack’s folks to just chill.

after watching that if you dont need to sleep, try streamin Ann Richards talkin about Jesse Jackson in 88. it is sweet!

RMJ I really appreciate your perspective on the issue. Thanks for bringing up those facts about the behavior of delegates at past conventions
