Still Divided

Even after Hillary Clinton’s speech, a speech which Fmr. Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk said she delivered “masterfully” the Texas Delegation is still divided. As B Rob has said throughout our stay and as Mayor Kirk mentioned in our conversation, Texas’ Primary vote was split right down the middle. So the tension in Texas stems from such a close vote.

At the end of breakfast, Clinton supporters sought a represtative during the roll call process to ensure the vote goes smoothly
. Mayor Kirk, who is the Obama campaigns #1 person in Texas, says he trusts the process. But he is clearly ready to move past this…as are the majority of convention attendees.

Every speaker that comes to Texas says the pary is unified, yet Texas still is not. The Clinton holdouts are not the majority…but they sure are loud.

Why don’t the Hilary supporters realize the longer they hold out the longer it is going to take to get people back home excited about the party? Don’t they realize how much we have to lose?

Hillary’s speech was great. We all know the Clintons are great at writing and delivering speeches, but what was unique about it for me is, it was genuine. I believe she really meant what she said and that surprised me! Last night took me back to the time when I enjoyed seeing her speak on the national platform.

Some people in the media are saying she should have spoke more about Obama being ready to lead. I disagree, if she would have tried to be his #1 cheerleader she would have not been genuine and it would have came across as fake.

Hillary was passionate, humorous and real. The speech had several great lines my favorite was “are you in this just for me or are you in it for all the Americans that need change”-loose translation.
Hillary said what she needed to say now it is left up to her supporters to do the right thing.

If people aren’t excited about the party, that is a failure of the party and its candidates. It isn’t a failure of the people.
