Old School Friday: Remakes

I would assume that this one would be a popular choice, but I’m going with Killing Me Softly for my first pick on Old School Friday’s Remake Edition.
Robert Flack
Fugees
I assume this pick won’t be as popular. I’m going with Stranger in My House first performed by Ronnie Milsap. The irony in his song (somebody here that I can’t see) is off the chain. I remember hear this song on the bowling alley jukebox back in the day.
Just as ironic, in it’s own way, is Tamia’s version. The crazy thing is that this song came on while my wife and I were in the car and I told her there was country version. What do you know. Happy OSF!!!

Hey there Dallas.
These are a couple of good pics. Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly” is definitely a classic, and The Fugees version is almost a classic of another sort. I really miss Lauryn Hill. Stranger In My House is a song I’m not familiar with, but I like it. I actually like Milsap’s version better.
Happy OSF!

I love me some Ronnie Millsap and that is a favorite. I remember that video freaking me out worse than Thriller when I was a kid. (I do listen to some C&W, but as far as I’m concerned, Brooks and Dunn killed he genre in the mid-90s. I tend to just stick to Bluegrass now when I’m in that mood.)

Alright! I knew I would find The Fugees on someone’s list!!
And for me, Tamia can do no wrong. Love her and she’s a sweet gal too!

Looks like we were in sync with the Roberta remake.
The Tamia/Millsap choice is a good one!

Roberta Flack - what a great choice! Remember listening to her and Donna Hathaway back in the day.

I have to go with Tamia/Ronnie Milsap as the winner, only because I didn’t know this was a remake…
Tamia…oh how I love her! What a voice!

I never knew “Stranger In My House” was a remake either. And for the original to be a country version is a bonus. Tamia’s version is constantly on my ipod playlist.

I like Lauren Hill’s version of Killing Me Softly much better. I think it’s the beat that really does it for me. And maybe it’s a generation thing too. The Lauren Hill and the Fugess are more in my age demographic.
