Thursday’s Bloggers Bunch interesting to say the least

Thursday’s Bloggers Bunch on CNN was interesting to say the least.  One of the bloggers on the show was Lurita Doan of EyesOnGov.com.  Lurita went out of her way to criticize the President, and Black folks seemingly, during our discussion of race.  I wanted to follow up to a couple of her points during the show, but I had no such luck.  I like it better when there are three guests on instead of four because we get a little more time to establish our points.  Let me know what you think.

The expression on your face at 13:14 says it all. I wish you would have had time to challenge Ms. Doan’s statements in particularly on Affirmative Action. She could not have been any more wrong!

Ms. Doan’s idea of winding down Affirmative Action because of the “stigma it produces” to me says the problem is not with affirmative action, but with the people creating these “stigmas”. There were no stigmas created about our last president, who’s pedigree helped propel him to the highest position in the land. If Obama is a product of affirmative action, then to me that is proof positive that Affirmative Action works and one hell of a reason to continue to support it.

    Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Gents. If I had just one chance to get in on her comments, just one. She was just so matter of fact. It sounded like she had all of the answers for black folks.

I left my 2 cents about it on their Facebook page. I thought it was a good discussion and agree it needed to be longer. If you want to see the real America, get rid of Affirmative Action based programs. But if you do it, you need to do it for all groups. People tend to forget black folks weren’t the only ones to benefit from them.
