Today I will be on NPR News and Notes' Bloggers Roundtable.   Tony Cox will be hosting the show today and the other bloggers include Danielle Belton from The Black Snob and Claudio Simpkins from Hip Hop Republican. We are scheduled to discuss Racial attitudes towards blacks, O.J., and pay differences for those with differing views on gender roles.   News and Notes airs in Dallas on KERA 90.1 at 9:00 p.m.  All other areas check your local listings for times.

I'm excited to announce that Dallas South is launching a Blog Talk Radio Program this Thursday night (Sept. 25) at 10:00 p.m CST.  The show called Shawn P. Williams Now, will focus on the same things that we talk about here at Dallas South - politics, media, sports, and current events. Jazzy who blogs at Because I Said So, and contributes here at Dallas South is going to be our co-host.   We did a pilot (which is actually out there for public consumption) on Tuesday to work out some of the kinks.  I think it's going to be fun. Our first guest on Thursday will be Casey Thomas, president of the Dallas branch of the NAACP.  We will be discussion voter registration, turnout, and the potential for voter suppression. I met Kevin Ross at the Blogging While Brown this summer in Atlanta.  This was after appearing on NPR's News and Notes with him back in the Spring.  He's been a prosecutor, a judge, a D.J., and probably some other stuff he hasn't told me about yet. Kevin  is currently President /CEO of 3BAAS Media Group , a strategic marketing and branding firm specializing in online messaging. He also blogs at 3 Brothers and A Sister and has an Internet show on Blogtalkradio.com that I've had the opportunity to appear on. I knew the GOP convention speakers would come out swinging, but I never I imagined they would take it to the gutter politics level that we saw in St. Paul last week. In Denver, every speaker -to a man or woman- gave Sen. John McCain the respect he deserved as a former military man, and as a sitting U.S. Senator.  Most of them even had an applause line  thrown in for good measure. But last week, I watched Rudy Giuliani and Sarah Palin take the Republican Party to shameful new lows -even for them.  And it was all around Senator Barack Obama's history as a community organizer. Forget for a moment the disrespectful nature for which they treated Sen. Cincinnati, OH - Sep 7, 2008 - I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities. - Sarah Palin, 2008 Wiith those caustic words, Gov Sarah Palin ignited a firestorm in the African American community. Palin's words resulted in a call being issued by The AfroSpear for a 'Day of Blogging for Justice: Community Organizers'.  The AfroSpear notes that many heed the call for community organizing within the Black community, both online and in the 'real world', as teachers, church deacons, and non-profit volunteers.
