A note to all by Anne Kilkenny

I got this one in my inbox and checked around the web to make sure this is legit. Anne
Kilkenny is also quoted in the New York Times discussing Gov. Palin.
ABOUT SARAH PALIN I am a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. I have known Sarah since 1992. Everyone here knows Sarah, so it is nothing special to say we are on a first-name basis. Our children have attended the same schools. Her father was my child's favorite substitute teacher. I also am on a first name basis with her parents and mother-in-law. I attended more City Council meetings during her administration than about 99% of the residents of the city. She is enormously popular; in every way she’s like the most popular girl in middle school. Even men who think she is a poor choice and won't vote for her can't quit smiling when talking about her because she is a "babe". It is astonishing and almost scary how well she can keep a secret. She kept her most recent pregnancy a secret from her children and parents for seven months. She is "pro-life". She recently gave birth to a Down's syndrome baby. There is no cover-up involved, here; Trig is her baby. She is energetic and hardworking. She regularly worked out at the gym. She is savvy. She doesn't take positions; she just "puts things out there" and if they prove to be popular, then she takes credit. Her husband works a union job on the North Slope for BP and is a champion snowmobile racer. Todd Palin’s kind of job is highly sought-after because of the schedule and high pay. He arranges his work schedule so he can fish for salmon in Bristol Bay for a month or so in summer, but by no stretch of the imagination is fishing their major source of income. Nor has her life-style ever been anything like that of native Alaskans. Sarah and her whole family are avid hunters. She's smart. Her experience is as mayor of a city with a population of about 5,000 (at the time), and less than 2 years as governor of a state with about 670,000 residents. During her mayoral administration most of the actual work of running this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings which had given rise to a recall campaign. Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a “fiscal conservative”. During her 6 years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over 33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation (1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they benefited residents. The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it with indebtedness of over $22 million. What did Mayor Palin encourage the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? or a new library? No. $1m for a park. $15m-plus for construction of a multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece of property that the City didn’t even have clear title to, that was still in litigation 7 yrs later--to the delight of the lawyers involved! The sports complex itself is a nice addition to the community but a huge money pit, not the profit-generator she claimed it would be. She also supported bonds for $5.5m for road projects that could have been done in 5-7 yrs without any borrowing. While Mayor, City Hall was extensively remodeled and her office redecorated more than once. These are small numbers, but Wasilla is a very small city. As an oil producer, the high price of oil has created a budget surplus in Alaska. Rather than invest this surplus in technology that will make us energy independent and increase efficiency, as Governor she proposed distribution of this surplus to every individual in the state. In this time of record state revenues and budget surpluses, she recommended that the state borrow/bond for road projects, even while she proposed distribution of surplus state revenues: spend today's surplus, borrow for needs. She’s not very tolerant of divergent opinions or open to outside ideas or compromise. As Mayor, she fought ideas that weren’t generated by her or her staff. Ideas weren’t evaluated on their merits, but on the basis of who proposed them. While Sarah was Mayor of Wasilla she tried to fire our highly respected City Librarian because the Librarian refused to consider removing from the library some books that Sarah wanted removed. City residents rallied to the defense of the City Librarian and against Palin's attempt at out-and-out censorship, so Palin backed down and withdrew her termination letter. People who fought her attempt to oust the Librarian are on her enemies list to this day. Sarah complained about the “old boy’s club” when she first ran for Mayor, so what did she bring Wasilla? A new set of "old boys". Palin fired most of the experienced staff she inherited. At the City and as Governor she hired or elevated new, inexperienced, obscure people, creating a staff totally dependent on her for their jobs and eternally grateful and fiercely loyal--loyal to the point of abusing their power to further her personal agenda, as she has acknowledged happened in the case of pressuring the State’s top cop (see below). As Mayor, Sarah fired Wasilla’s Police Chief because he “intimidated” her, she told the press. As Governor, her recent firing of Alaska's top cop has the ring of familiarity about it. He served at her pleasure and she had every legal right to fire him, but it's pretty clear that an important factor in her decision to fire him was because he wouldn't fire her sister's ex-husband, a State Trooper. Under investigation for abuse of power, she has had to admit that more than 2 dozen contacts were made between her staff and family to the person that she later fired, pressuring him to fire her ex-brother-in-law. She tried to replace the man she fired with a man who she knew had been reprimanded for sexual harassment; when this caused a public furor, she withdrew her support. She has bitten the hand of every person who extended theirs to her in help. The City Council person who personally escorted her around town introducing her to voters when she first ran for Wasilla City Council became one of her first targets when she was later elected Mayor. She abruptly fired her loyal City Administrator; even people who didn’t like the guy were stunned by this ruthlessness. Fear of retribution has kept all of these people from saying anything publicly about her. When then-Governor Murkowski was handing out political plums, Sarah got the best, Chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission: one of the few jobs not in Juneau and one of the best paid. She had no background in oil & gas issues. Within months of scoring this great job which paid $122,400/yr, she was complaining in the press about the high salary. I was told that she hated that job: the commute, the structured hours, the work. Sarah became aware that a member of this Commission (who was also the State Chair of the Republican Party) engaged in unethical behavior on the job. In a gutsy move which some undoubtedly cautioned her could be political suicide, Sarah solved all her problems in one fell swoop: got out of the job she hated and garnered gobs of media attention as the patron saint of ethics and as a gutsy fighter against the “old boys’ club” when she dramatically quit, exposing this man’s ethics violations (for which he was fined). As Mayor, she had her hand stuck out as far as anyone for pork from Senator Ted Stevens. Lately, she has castigated his pork-barrel politics and publicly humiliated him. She only opposed the “bridge to nowhere” after it became clear that it would be unwise not to. As Governor, she gave the Legislature no direction and budget guidelines, then made a big grandstand display of line-item vetoing projects, calling them pork. Public outcry and further legislative action restored most of these projects--which had been vetoed simply because she was not aware of their importance--but with the unobservant she had gained a reputation as “anti-pork”. She is solidly Republican: no political maverick. The State party leaders hate her because she has bit them in the back and humiliated them. Other members of the party object to her self-description as a fiscal conservative. Around Wasilla there are people who went to high school with Sarah. They call her “Sarah Barracuda” because of her unbridled ambition and predatory ruthlessness. Before she became so powerful, very ugly stories circulated around town about shenanigans she pulled to be made point guard on the high school basketball team. When Sarah's mother-in-law, a highly respected member of the community and experienced manager, ran for Mayor, Sarah refused to endorse her. As Governor, she stepped outside of the box and put together of package of legislation known as “AGIA” that forced the oil companies to march to the beat of her drum. Like most Alaskans, she favors drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. She has questioned if the loss of sea ice is linked to global warming. She campaigned “as a private citizen” against a state initiaitive that would have either a) protected salmon streams from pollution from mines, or b) tied up in the courts all mining in the state (depending on who you listen to). She has pushed the State’s lawsuit against the Dept. of the Interior’s decision to list polar bears as threatened species. McCain is the oldest person to ever run for President; Sarah will be a heartbeat away from being President. There has to be literally millions of Americans who are more knowledgeable and experienced than she. However, there’s a lot of people who have underestimated her and are regretting it. CLAIM VS FACT •“Hockey mom”: true for a few years •“PTA mom”: true years ago when her first-born was in elementary school, not since •“NRA supporter”: absolutely true •social conservative: mixed. Opposes gay marriage, BUT vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships (said she did this because it was unconsitutional). •pro-creationism: mixed. Supports it, BUT did nothing as Governor to promote it. •“Pro-life”: mixed. Knowingly gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby BUT declined to call a special legislative session on some pro-life legislation •“Experienced”: Some high schools have more students than Wasilla has residents. Many cities have more residents than the state of Alaska. No legislative experience other than City Council. Little hands-on supervisory or managerial experience; needed help of a city administrator to run town of about 5,000. •political maverick: not at all •gutsy: absolutely! •open & transparent: ??? Good at keeping secrets. Not good at explaining actions. •has a developed philosophy of public policy: no •”a Greenie”: no. Turned Wasilla into a wasteland of big box stores and disconnected parking lots. Is pro-drilling off-shore and in ANWR. •fiscal conservative: not by my definition! •pro-infrastructure: No. Promoted a sports complex and park in a city without a sewage treatment plant or storm drainage system. Built streets to early 20th century standards. •pro-tax relief: Lowered taxes for businesses, increased tax burden on residents •pro-small government: No. Oversaw greatest expansion of city government in Wasilla’s history. •pro-labor/pro-union. No. Just because her husband works union doesn’t make her pro-labor. I have seen nothing to support any claim that she is pro-labor/pro-union. WHY AM I WRITING THIS? First, I have long believed in the importance of being an informed voter. I am a voter registrar. For 10 years I put on student voting programs in the schools. If you google my name (Anne Kilkenny + Alaska), you will find references to my participation in local government, education, and PTA/parent organizations. Secondly, I've always operated in the belief that "Bad things happen when good people stay silent". Few people know as much as I do because few have gone to as many City Council meetings. Third, I am just a housewife. I don't have a job she can bump me out of. I don't belong to any organization that she can hurt. But, I am no fool; she is immensely popular here, and it is likely that this will cost me somehow in the future: that’s life. Fourth, she has hated me since back in 1996, when I was one of the 100 or so people who rallied to support the City Librarian against Sarah's attempt at censorship. Fifth, I looked around and realized that everybody else was afraid to say anything because they were somehow vulnerable. CAVEATS I am not a statistician. I developed the numbers for the increase in spending & taxation 2 years ago (when Palin was running for Governor) from information supplied to me by the Finance Director of the City of Wasilla, and I can't recall exactly what I adjusted for: did I adjust for inflation? for population increases? Right now, it is impossible for a private person to get any info out of City Hall--they are swamped. So I can't verify my numbers. You may have noticed that there are various numbers circulating for the population of Wasilla, ranging from my "about 5,000", up to 9,000. The day Palin’s selection was announced a city official told me that the current population is about 7,000. The official 2000 census count was 5,460. I have used about 5,000 because Palin was Mayor from 1996 to 2002, and the city was growing rapidly in the mid-90’s. Anne Kilkenny annekilkenny@hotmail.com August 31, 2008

Eye opening to say the least bit! Need to spread this like gossip!
September 3rd, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Let’s see - a gossiping house wife with an axe to grind vs Wright, Ayers, and Rezko…
September 4th, 2008 at 8:35 am
Note that she fails to draw the correlation between the budget expansion and the fact that the city doubled in size while Palin was at the reigns.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:51 am
I have read this on several websites and it merits repeating over and over to get it out there.
I believe everything she says is valid. She has the stats to back it up. That smug and sneering bulldog speaking last night reminded of this post - the barracuda - ruthless, relentless, will get her way no matter what it takes. This woman is over the charts determined - she is on a mission - scary and what is even scarier is all the women and men who are saying ah, great speech.
Wake up America!!!! Nothing was said about us middle class and minimum wage workers - no health care or social security concerns.
This speech spoke volumes last night - most of which wasn’t spoken!!!
September 4th, 2008 at 10:21 am
Phelps,
If all you can get out of what this woman said is “she fails to draw the correlation between the budget expansion and the fact that the city doubled in size while Palin was at the reigns” then you have tunnel vision and will only see what you want to see.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:43 am
you have tunnel vision and will only see what you want to see.
Wow. Just… wow.
September 4th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
Phelps,
Isn’t that POW..Just POW….
September 4th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
@ Marcia - Now that’s a good one right there, I don’t care whose side you’re on.
September 5th, 2008 at 7:58 am
Sour grapes. Guess you hate her more than you feel she hates you. The growth of the city speaks greater volume to her success as mayor. Thanks for putting me firmly in her camp.
September 5th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Just who IS Anne Kilkenny?
Does she have an AX to grind?
There has to be more to this story than her words I just read.
Any aggressive male in business is seen as someone who wants to climb the ladder. On the other hand, if a woman is aggressive she is seen as a barracuda… it’s been like that for YEARS.
Best we check further into Anne Kilkenny before making a decision on her dissertation.
Many times changes have to be made and the ‘good ole boys’ have to be ‘removed ‘ before things get on the CORRECT path. I’ve seen it all in big companies. They send a woman in, she gets it straightened out and the men sit back and take the credit.
How fair is that??
September 5th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
Dear Anne Kilkenny,
Thank you so much for your “essay” about Sarah Palin.
I hope the information gets out to the rest of the voting public, before it’s too late. You are a courageous woman and the country is very indebted to you.

First,
Lou, the growth of a city is not directly related the performance of the mayor. However, the status of the town’s budget is. Is it better off now than before she took office?
Second,
How great is it for a “housewife” to stir such debate. Only in America.
Third,
Of the “facts” Anne puts out there, what is it that so disturbs me about Sarah and her position on morality when, if true, she has compromised her integrity?
But isn’t that what politics is. I don’t suppose she has done anything different than any man has in the same position and that is why I get so disgusted with politicians. Are their actions for the greater good or for the continued pursuit of the perceived power that the comes with the position?
As for me, I will follow a philosphy that seems to fit living in America; “Keep your ass down and your eyes open”
September 5th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
You can find anyone to say anytthing true or not. Maybe this woman has been jealous of Palin and wants her 5 minutes of fame. Whatever! She is probably some liberal democrat that was found to put trash out on Palin. Some may believe it just because this person knew Palin from earlier days. Liberals will do anything to make their trash look better.
September 5th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
I’d love to see which books she wanted removed!
I hope it wasn’t the “The Ghospel of Flying Sphagetti Monster”
If he gets to the White House I am pretty sure we can teach Intelligent Design in our universities and the Pirates will rule the oceans.
That will show global warming the finger!

She listed facts which can be checked, not gossip. She attended most city meetings and PTA. The Republicans have descended on Alaska and are having media go thru them for any information is what I have heard. (now that IS rumor).
But if true, someone like this is a true patriot, someone who speaks their mind when others are ducking.
I heard her on an interview. She seems like a middle class mom who is surprised at the uproar, but willing to endure the upset to her life - it won’t last long - she said.
She didn’t get into national politics, just what she had seen in Alaska.
September 5th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Good lord! I find it interesting that this woman wrote this within days of McCain choosing Palin as his VP. Seems like a huge case of sour grapes and if Palin was a man, this whole thing would have meant nothing.
September 6th, 2008 at 7:43 am
Wow, this opinion comes from “humble beginnings” to say the least. Not many would stake their opinion based on the ravings of a local substitute teacher.
Perhaps if she had worked under the Palin administration there would be more reason to believe the allegations.
September 6th, 2008 at 8:26 am
@Holly and the others:
You are full of it!
What nonsense. It’s sexist? Are you serious?
Like the same–and worse–hasn’t been said about Obama–people seeking to trivialize his experience–haven’t you ever seen a single political campaign?
How pathetic. People who have never been exposed to politics think any attack on a female candidate is sexism. McCain has been attacked. Where is the hue & cry? Obama is attacked–well that’s not racism, golly, that’s just good ol’ politics! Hilary is attacked–well that’s not sexism, golly, that’s just good ol’ politics!
And now, a mental midget with a shady past & a history of not honoring her words or her positions, who seems to abuse power, runs for VP, and we can’t call a spade a spade?
I won’t be checking here. I just posted to express my severe dissapointment in you–this woman is a pathetic candidate and a half-minded attempt to reach out to women, in a mysogynistic hope that they are stupid enough to fall for “We picked a woman!”
If you do vote for her, you deserve her. When that doddering old man dies in his term, you’ll get a president who only is experienced with running a state smaller than a big city.
Good luck. You’ll need it.
September 6th, 2008 at 10:18 am
Be serious.
Watch:
https://secure.ga4.org/01/pacforachange_stewart/nh1a4mFEqngal?
Here, we have Dick Morris saying that there is no sexism–and we have Nancy Pfotenhauer attacking Hilary for having a family & running–and we have Sarah Palin herself saying that women candidates don’t suffer from sexism–and we have Bill O’Reilly saying that teen pregnancy is not a public issue–
Then, we have these same people–we have Bill O’Reilly strongly condeming the idiot parents of a young Spears daughter for letting her become pregnant–then we have Nancy Pfotenhauer saying that mentioning Sarah Palin’s family is horribly sexist!–then we have Dick Morris saying that all attacks on Sarah Palin are part of the “terrible sexism in our nation.” The same sexism that he and his cronies promote.
Wake up! You sheep are disturbing. Watch your flip-flopping cronies in action, & deal with reality.
September 6th, 2008 at 11:51 am
Bre and Lou, unfortunately, are prototypical of right wing conservatives: They don’t look at facts. All they can do is fear monger and call names like children.
But that doesn’t hide these facts: Fiscal irresponsibility is a hallmark of Republicans, and Palin is no exception. In her small way, Palin has followed in the footsteps of Reagan and W, who tried their best to bankrupt the United States. She buried the financially sound town she controlled under a mountain of debt but with no meaningful improvements in its infrastructure.
Something Amy didn’t cover, though, is Palin’s true, hypocritical stand on abortion. Palin said her daughter was given the responsibility to make the choice about her pregnancy. So, the governor’s daughter gets that choice, but Palin wants to take that alternative away from American women.
Palin, like the Republican party, is a joke. But, if elected, she’d be a heartbeat away from the presidency. Now that joke becomes a horrible national nightmare.
Quite frankly, if you vote for McCain/Palin, you are brainwashed, brainless or just not the patriot you claim you are.
By the way, if a Republican had written an essay like this about a Democrat, you can bet she/he would not have included the caveat that Amy so honorably did about the verification of her numbers.
Still, this much is clear: Palin is a flip-flopper, she has no meaningful executive experience; and the little experience she does have shows she likes to spend like a drunken sailor on shore leave, just like W.
And ethics? Palin obviously does not understand the meaning of the word.
Yeah, let’s elect McCan/Palin and have four more years of the worst presidential administration in U.S. history.
Bravo, Amy. You are a hero for getting out this information.
September 6th, 2008 at 11:54 am
Anne, “Democrat”, has a good story (once upon a time) and its funny that mainstream media hasn’t picked up this story. NPR (last liberal radio) gave her a plug but that’s all, no primetime. Obama (Chicago Political Machine) has more skeletons in his basement than this story. Come on, its typical politics, no politician is squeaky clean! At least you know what you are getting with Sarah, Obama scares the hell out of me (socialist/liberal, what’s the difference?).
September 6th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Thank you Mrs. Kelkenny. Your insights and observations are worthy of circulation.
September 6th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
Just one point- she said she told them thanks but no thanks on the bridge to nowhere! But did she really vote for it first and then change when it wasn’t going to happen? If so, how deceiving to shout out that “thanks but no thanks” line. Makes you wonder. Actually, makes you shiver.
September 6th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Even scarier than Sarah Palin is the fact that John McCain picked her. I think it says more about his judgement than it says it says about her. Yes, she is a heartbeat away from the Presidency. He chose political expedenciency over what would truly be best for the country. As such, the America First theme is a complete sham and John McCain should be ashamed of himself. What happened on 9/11…..it was Dick Cheney in the trenches managing the crises when George Bush was unavailable on Air Force One. Do you honestly, think that Sarah Palin is remotely equipped to handle a crises of that nature. John McCain, in his choice of Sarah Palin, has put this country in danger if he happens to be elected President.
September 6th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
It’s frightening to imagine this person being our VP or the President of this country. What was John McCain thinking…?? Wow!
September 6th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Sounds like a case of sour grapes to me so shes a politician oh my God, I would like to see someone dish some dirt on obama, I wonder if some one laid all his dirty dealings how would it look , f this email wonder is this dummy is a dem,
September 6th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
Before I read Kilkenny’s letter I made a very small research venture through wiki and crossreferencing websites on Sarah Palin and one can independently come up with the same picture as Kilkenny paints.
September 6th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
Really? Sour grapes? Every fact can be checked. If you want to know who someone is, forget their words and check their actions: Sarah Palin, who says she is a fiscal conservative, straight arrow, exemplary mom, put her tiny town into deep debt, has already (in less than a week) lied about the plane, the cook and who knows what all, and has a pregnant 17 year old daughter. Nice. I’m so impressed with John McCain’s judgment, and she is JUST the person to have a heratbeat away from the presidency.
September 6th, 2008 at 3:41 pm
And I find it interesting that McCain chose her after just one meeting. I find the essay very interesting and unless anyone has factual information to state that what the writer says is false no one should trow stones at the glass house. Research it yourself. Many things can be said about anyone as we’ve seen during this elections season. And if most of it were factual some of them (Obama) wouldn’t be where he is NOW.
September 6th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
I dont feel any bad vibes coming from this woman and see it as an attempt at exposure of fact as seen from a long standing insider with an inside view of the real woman who is a Vice Presidential candidate and need I remind you…potentially President of the United States of America.
Palin’s Aura around her person confirms this woman’s view to me and it is an aura readable before any exposure by anyone. Where is your perception, discernemnet, and intuition? Do you not see what a poor choice of a national leader this really is?
I am dumbfounded by people’s dogged and staunch support of people “just because” without any logical reason to be. Wake up people…this is not a time to allow your votes to led around by your illogic or emotions or prejudices. This may be our last chance to live in a country where we CAN still vote here…can still eat and CAN still have a job abd gas to go to work and care when we get sick. This isnt a damn popularity contest. To me personally, it has the potential to border on a “life and death” matter. or at the very least the end of life as we used to see and believe it could be before the “who you know” and not the “what you do” people came into power.. Why is someone accused of harrassing Palin when they ask her to explain her idea on foreign policies…I want to see debates…three of them…3 between McCain and Obama..and 3 between Palin and Biden. But watch out..every answer a non-republican candidate gives will be a reason for that “bulldog” mentality to claim “foul” and to sneak attack a jugular for even attempting a political process to inform American people…the way the woman that wrote this essay is trying to give “information” Last time I checked….Information was a good thing. Being informed is necessary to make Informed decisions which is what we are going to do this election…right?
September 6th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Sounds like half truths and sour grapes from what appears to be a democrat who happens to live in the same town. Nearly everything in the so called “essay” is as it is… seen thru the eyes of someone who does not like Ms. Palin and of course the truths spoken become skewed to support the position of Ms. Kilkenny.
Most of the list of “issues” Ms. Kilkenny presents are things I, and most conservative Republicans, support. Given we need a certain level of taxes for limited government (police, fire, water, trash, etc.) raising the sales tax is not necessarily a bad thing. Increasing sales tax and decreasing property tax is a principle that conservatives take because sale taxes are consumption based and tax people more fairly than property taxes. Wealthier people will pay more taxes because they consume more, but the % of the tax is not more because they make more (unlike income taxes). Giving the oil money back to the people is the right thing to do vs. allow government spend the money irresponsibly. Forcing people out of jobs because they do not work well with you, are combative or lazy is just fine; that is how it should be. Jobs are not rights they are privileges. You have the right to apply for jobs, but do not have rights to have jobs or keep jobs.
Then again, it does all seem to come down to the difference between liberalism and conservatism.
September 6th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Which taxpayers do you think will pay for the half trillion Fanny and Freddie bailout if McCain/Palin get elected? Plus, for all of the rest of the bank failures that will be coming?
If you’re one of the ‘lucky’ in the highest income bracket or 1% of the population, it won’t be you…….. McCain/Palin will make permanent your ridiculous tax breaks.
It will be on the backs of the rest of us.
Wake up, America!
September 6th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
Let me straighten this out for the men who are reading, when a woman is jealous or has sour-grape-syndrome she calls the object of her hatred a bitch, and demeans her character. It is what the female of the species does, and this letter is no different. As a female, reading between the lines, she is furious about Palins “b abe” status, success, large family, cute hubby, position of power, and commendable actions in the face of having a special needs child. In other words, if she was a man she would be Keith Olberman.
September 6th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Kilkenny must think Alaskans are dumb as nails.
They love her with an 84% rating.
What is Congress’ rating?
Kilkenny is political activist for Barack.
This is the begging of a smear, attacks against a lovely woman.
September 6th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
A lovely woman? Who uses a gun to kill defensless animals, a pro-lifer? With a 17 year old pregnant daughter…hello? Who refers to herself as a pit bull…no I don’t see how the word lovely exactly fits the above description.
September 6th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Let’s see, om one hand we have the Rep. Gov. Sarah Palin: mayor, governor, 80% approval who pulled “shenanigans” to be made point guard, fired the Chief for “intimadation”, increased revenues, hired an administrator to help under political pressure and then later fired him, didn’t endorse her mother-in-law as Mayor who is Pro-Abortion, looks to her staff for ideas, was very popular in high school, and hates Anne (according to Anne)
On the other hand we have Dem. Sen. Barack Obama: voting “present” 130 times in the Ill. Senate, (more than his ayes and nays), even on one bill he had sponsored because the coverage of the press changed his mind, yet in his book he said : “You must vote yes or no on whatever bill comes up, with the knowledge that it’s unlikely to be a compromise that either you or your supporters consider fair and or just.” and then there is William Ayers, and Saul Alinsky, and Rev. Wright, and that wacky Catholic priest doing an imitation of Hilary - and who helped him buy his house? Oh yeah, Tony Resko - where is he now? McCain forgot how many houses he has? Obama gets amnesia about how he bought just one.
Housewife and Council Meeting Attendee vs. Illinios Senate records, Illinois Real Estate records, Obama’s own admissions, and could we ever forget the videos of his favorite “holy men”?
Sarah may be a “heartbeat” away from the presidency, but the Democrats want this guy to BE the heartbeat. Not on my watch.

Independent here who last year was an Obama fan. Thought he was the one for change. This article is informative to say the least but there is almost always a right and real reason for all decisions. Without complete knowledge of all these situations expressed in this essay one only see the right reason for these remarks. The real reason, as in most cases, becomes apparent only after the facts are sought. I have no reason to doubt this essay but in turn have to reason to believe it. What we don’t know surely out weighs what we do know.
I do know I’m hearing both bad and good about Ms. Palin, with the good coming out more than the bad. Little doubt that Ms. Palin made some mistakes, but then I don’t have nail holes in my hands either. We all make mistakes.
I’ve personally witness smears before and right facts ruined some great people. The real facts never got out. That being said, I stated I was an Obama supports a year back. No anymore. Effective speakers do not always make great leaders as withnessed in Germany and Russia during the 1930’s and 1940’s. A number of Germans and Russians heard the right person but ignored the real person (one in the same). It cost a lot of people their lives.
Please know your facts before you prejudge.

I don’t see it any different from the background checks the government does on federal employees. (I was interviewed by the FBI about a coworker when she applied for a job with them) They talk to your neighbors, friends, coworkers, and sometimes even families. Isn’t it in their best interest to also speak to those who aren’t “best friends” with or loyal to the potential employee? It’s best to hear more than one perspective if you want the whole picture. This lady, Anne (who has first hand knowledge) , is simply giving her perspective (that happens to be backed up with facts) to anyone interested.
BTW, Marcia, THAT was priceless! (Phelps, Isn’t that POW..Just POW….) Most of us could probably repeat his POW story verbatim at this point. Enough already!

Chances are you are a jealous woman who wants attention. Sarah is smart, aggresive, pretty, likeable…yes I smell a rat…a jealous rat.
September 7th, 2008 at 1:28 am
The 4th reason you gave for coming forth has convinced me you have an ax to grind with Palin.
The person I pity is you. By trying to get at a lady you think “hates” you, the life you made miserable is your own.
No one is going to base their opinions of Sarah Palin on what you have to say. If this were true, more people would come forth. Come on!!!! No one else in the whole state is backing up what you say.
How do you know she kept her pregnancy from her parents and family? From the public maybe. So what?
How do you know what was on her “wish list”?
The remark… “I was told she hated that job”… Do you always listen to idle gossip? Gossip, gossip, gossip!!!
Yes, we know you’re a registered Democrat. It is quite evident.
But you said it best when you said “I’m just a housewife”.
We all agree… and a jealous one at that. LOL

That other Dave just has everything turned around, which is a trait of libs. Bush has not spent the country into debt, that can only be done by Congress. Democrats never saw a fact that they didn’t call a lie. They just turn everything upside down and by using their lesson from Herman Goebels repeat them over and over so that their less informed party members are properly indoctrinated into believing their lies. They have been in control of the government for most of the last 60 years except for a few stretches of sane times and have been promising to make life better for all and eliminate discrimination, poverty, etc. But their policies and programs just bring us the opposite, like fatherless kids and welfare families generations old. They promise plenty and then install regulations that serve to bring about so called unintentional consequences.
Boys and girls the real facts are:
1. There is a percentage point where taxes above that point become excessively confiscatory. Bringing on recession, job loss etc.
2. This point is somewhere between 15 and 25.
2b. If states raise taxes on business, business moves to other states.
2c If the Federal government raises taxes on business, business moves to other countries. They have to make a profit to continue to exist. Just a small fact of nature.
3. The Federal Reserve board controls the amount of money in circulation. (Just read the top of a $1 bill. It says Federal Reserve Note)
4. Inflation is caused by printing more money than the government has in resources to back it up. ( Done by the Federal Reserve Board)
5. The Fed is controlled by the Board, not the president or congress.
6. When Democrats increase spending, as they do when they have control of congress, they say they have to increase taxes in order to pay for it.
7. Now by fact #1,
8. JFK knew this and reduced the percentage rate of taxes and had a period of prosperity.
8 Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush did the same thing and got the same result as JFK. Three historic facts. The Dims called it tax breaks for the rich. Hay everyone who paid taxes got a break, even some who didn’t make enough to pay taxes got a rebate.
People with kids got a large increase in deduction for each kid.
9. Not long ago Newt Gingrich and many Republican congressmen took over the leadership of congress with their contract with America, they cut spending and balanced the budget bringing us the first budget with a surplus in many years which President Clinton took credit for, what a joke! And since the good congressmen were not used to being in the leadership and didn’t get the credit they deserved and didn’t want to be the targets of the democrats politics of personal destruction like Newt, they just gave in to the Democrats and went along with their spending increases. Facts.
There are many more facts the Libs have wrong. Most of what they accuse Republicans of doing or wanting to do are what they themselves are doing, like infringing on our constitutional rights. They want to ban guns when the constitution says in the second amendment ” The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Some of you are so worried about looking up things try looking up “infringed” in a dictionary. The states where concealed carry laws have been inacted have found these laws have caused gun crimes like armed robbery go drastically down.
Also, they want to silence consevative views from the radio waves, that would be against the 1st amendent! Seems to me that the fact that these two amendments are placed as numbers one and two shows that they were the most important amendments in the constitution. When you fool with the constitution you fool with the very document which made this country the best place to live that has ever existed in the history of the world. The type of judges BO wants to appoint to the supreme court are the kind who want to radically fool with the constitution. Some even want to import laws written in foergn countries and make them our law by supreme court decisions. Writing laws is the job of elected members of congress not appointed judges. Their only lawfull power is to read the laws and apply them fairly.
Sorry to bring the facts to your attention but the Libs seem to beleive bald face lies are good if they futher the policies of the liberal establishment.
SARAH PALIN may not have as much experience as Biden, but she definately has more than BO!
What scares me is the FACT that if BO becomes president
September 7th, 2008 at 7:56 am
I don’t think one will need Anne Kilkenny’s essay to determine the kind of person Sarah Pailn is or will be in the future as a political candidate. Listen to her words. She uses truths, but doesn’t tell the whole truth…that’s politics right?
She decribes herself as a pitbull with lipstick. Is that what America needs or wants for a potential VP or worse a President? McCain needed a VP choice that would get people talking about the Republican ticket, he accomplished that. But Palin is inexperienced and in over her head in too many ways.
Say what you want about Obama’s experience, but 20 million Americans have already voted for him once in the primaries. I doubt Sarah Palin would have faired remotely as well. An old dog, and a young pitbull…not my view of a good choice to lead the country.

Attila, I suggest you should get off whatever that is you are smoking…

I saw Palin on C-Span at one of the republican sponsered Oil events. This was just weeks after the Oil Companies testified before congress. She directly contradicted a lot of what the execs said about the benefits of drilling. I wasn’t surprised by McCains choice. I fear for the country and will have a hard time remaining republican.
September 7th, 2008 at 9:46 am
Thank you for this article. It helps to have concrete info to counter the people who just say “isn’t she great, she’s so experienced”. My current mission is to post my views on Republican blog sites, because, I’ve begun to feel that t most of the time we are only preaching to the choir. Here’s what I am posting and being conscious to not be malicious.
“All people who love and want to be committed to each other have the right to marry. Violence is not an answer. Better gun control is. For that matter, how about no guns. Watch the film called The War Tapes (nominated for Academy Award), where the soldiers were the filmmakers. Get a bit of an inside view of Iraq. Since the Patriot Act and Bush administration, people are disappearing and being incarcerated (yes, in this country) without benefit of council.
It’s every woman’s right to choose. It is true, if men could get pregnant, abortion would be a right, no questions asked. It’s our right to have clean air, clean water, and a healthy planet. Let’s stop being selfish and greedy and look out for the planet. Our survival depends on it. No more drilling. Solar is possible. Wind power is possible. We deserve to have better health care, and health care for all. Raise the bar for quality care. Help Mexico become a better place to live and the immigration problem may be solved. Which candidate will allow these things to come about and change the justice system so everyone has the right to council? It’s not about the one or two people that are running… it’s about the people they will surround themselves with….” - SAH 2008

The Wasilla Town Hall looks like a drive-up hoagie joint. Say, Mrs. Barracuda, could I have an Italian Grinder, extra onions, hold the pickles, with oil and vinegar? And if you bake that for me, dear, instead of the microwave, I’ll think about voting for you.
September 7th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Thank-you Anne K. for this informed article. I saw this article posted some where
else but not in its full length. I knew when she was first introduced on the National
scene there was more beneath the eye. Thank-God for discernment. Stand up for what you have witness and know some of us will hear and remember some people
actually have ears with no physical issues but cannot hear. Again, thank-you for telling valuable information that those who hear can discern and make an informed decision.
September 7th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Just as I thought. Sarah is a typical Neo Con Empty Suit! What an opportunist that will say and do anything in the name of God. Thank you Anne for having the courage to expose this abomination of a selfserving politicial.

I think this is a great time for all of us to look at both parties and research all candidates ourselves rather than just rely on gossip. There are many implications from both parties that we will all pay the consequences from for many years. I urge each of you to look at the core issues, based on your morals and values.
September 8th, 2008 at 9:06 am
Your letter is most welcome.Did you send it to Obama and Biden?
September 8th, 2008 at 11:04 am
I do believe that she hates you now…..but I also believe that you hate her more.
Did she best you?
September 8th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Anne Kilkenny’s opinion is subjective, and so is every opinion here on the comments board. Doesn’t matter whether you think Sarah Palin’s a rube, or that she is an outstanding leader who truly understands the average American. It’s your opinion and it stinks.
Let’s talk about the only objective fact that matters when it comes to Sarah Palin:
John McCain has picked someone he’s barely met, with absolutely no experience in the government she claims she will reform, and none in the global politics that determine the fate of nations and their economies. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Zip.
As such, she can only play the role a pawn in the big game of keeping the Bush regime in power via John McCain, and the lobbyists in control of Washington. She’s smoke without the fire. She’s the fumblerooski play, designed to get the discussion off of politics and onto the brand name of her glasses and her babies and her pregnancies. And meanwhile Bush still has the ball, fumbling his way toward a hand-off to Pappy McCain.
This election is going to be nothing less than a referendum on the gullibility of the American people. If you’re gullible enough to vote for John McCain, Dick Cheney has another war he wants sell you.
September 8th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Actually, Dave W., YOU have it turned around. Georgie W, with the blessing from a Republican Congress during most of his tenure, spent this country into bankruptcy. His illegal invasion of Iraq has cost us and continues to cost us dearly. True, Congress gave W the OK. But he knew there were no WMDs in Iraq, and yet he assured Congress there were. Why? Maybe he wanted to out-do daddy Bush. But, who really knows?
BTW, how convenient, Dave W., that you omit little things in Palin’s past like her pushing that little town into $22 million of debt without even leaving it with a sewage treatment plant. And, maybe you see nothing wrong with her book-censoring ways.
You and your ilk are as scary as McCain/Palin. Can any Con say this country is better off now than it was eight years ago and that four more years of W’s policies are what this country needs?
September 9th, 2008 at 7:59 am
“Thank you for this article”? Interesting to say the least. Thanks for what? “Book sensoring ways”? Did we do our homework or just shoot from the hip. Is Obama a Muslim just because he hung around Bill Ayers; supposedly received money from a Saudi for school; attended a church where a hateful pastor spread lies about America; and did business with a Syrian. This article holds as much truth as a screen door….same as articles that say Obama is a Muslim.
Facts seem to elude and ignorance seems to spawn. NO I am not stating that everyone on this blog is ignorant but their statements lack complete facts. Bloggers are giving credence to misleading information.
In this ever changing world with new challenges arising daily it is imperative to know your world’s, country’s, and politician’s history. Get information from as many sources as possible and weigh them by the motive or agenda of the source. The internet and for a lesser degree other information sources provide an avenue for finding information you want to hear/read. How cool is it to find just about anything you want in just seconds? However, just because these sources sides with your view does not necessarily mean it contain the real facts. I would hope that for instance we would not put much belief in an article concerning human rights if it was written by Kim Jong Il.
Have a great day and get the facts.

I suggest you go to the factcheck website. (link below) They are analyzing and checking into Anne Kilkenny’s allegations. Many have already been proved false. In my humble opinion, Kilkenny is just another disgruntled democrat who feels threatened by a woman of Palin’s caliber. They probably had a run-in at a PTA meeting or hockey game and Palin got the best of her!!!

To Dave,
Here’s a newsflash for you: http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/7/17/171214.shtml
500 tons of uranium WAS found in Iraq when the USA invaded. Why didn’t you hear about it? I was watching CNN one Sunday morning and this was a little blip at the bottom of the screen. Dems don’t want this to be big news, because you know what that means? The Bush admin was RIGHT! Why wasn’t it made public at the time? I’ll tell you why: authorities had to get all the uranium out of Iraq and if it was made known, there would have been huge security risks with all kinds of possible attacks on our troops. Sadaam was a lunatic and had two devils for sons. They didn’t care about their own people and those people lived in absolute terror every day of their lives. (Check out http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1199552/posts, or http://usinfo.state.gov/products/pubs/silenced/women.htm)
Oh, and thanks Lee for one of the few intellectual responses posted here.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
Bon - listen to you. If you had left out Palin’s name, I would have sworn you were talking about Obama.
September 9th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Thank God for Anne Kilkenny. Thank YOU Anne Kilkenny!
September 9th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Sarah-haters are so anxious for any dirt that they don’t check their facts. If there IS dirt, we should certainly know about it, but it would appear that Ms. Kilkenny has an axe to grind and isn’t being forthcoming.
I’ll post the FactCheck link again, although I see that someone else already has…

Dear Folks– this is not a democrat or a republican issue — you want to make it this way it seems some of you that have take offense to what is written here have looked up Obama’s short comings. Let me also say that the thing with the “books” was out long before this letter. In fact a lot was out long before this from Ms. Kilkenny. I think its odd that all I hear is how pretty Sarah Palin is– from men mostly — none of them have yet to say what qualifications she has or speak of her readiness to be the vice-pres.This is going to be a hard election for new voters and seasoned ones as well. I hope we all vote for whom we think is best qualified and so far I have yet to hear Sarah Palin address any real issues. I applaud Ms. Kilkenny for speaking up– she knew she would have to hear slanderous remarks about herself— thats a natural offense for those who ” like” the one being talked about. Consider this– Sarah Palin has been in politics for a short time and the governor of one state –Does that mean she can govern all 50 states? If shes so wonderful why arent you asking her to stay her term to continue helping Alaska? As for Obama its the same if his home state thinks hes non-replacable they should do the same.(ask him to finish his term)
Time tells all we can not escape that no matter how we try to cover it up. Please vote in November for the TEAM you think is the best –not just one person on that team.I plan to find out everything I can about both teams– I hope you do the same. By the way Anne I dont think you are just a housewife–I think you are caring citizen that pays attention to more than just the party names. Theres no shame in telling the truth or having an opinion — its troubling to me the extremes that people will go to to try and make you feel small just because you disagree with them — as nature has it most can dish but cant take in return. AND whoever made the comment about NPR I hope they keep putting things out there– contrary to belief there are more news sources than Fox news. I also looked at fact check really never told me much– much I already knew. Know what you believe and why — and respect our rights– freedom of speech being at the top of the list.
September 10th, 2008 at 11:18 am
You can’t help stupid people. Ya, and all of you who think Sarah Palin is a good VP pick are stupid. John McCain picking Sarah to be the VP was on of the most impetuous moves I’ve ever seen. She is a big fish in a small pond creating big problems for Alaska. McCain and Palin aren’t going to win because they have nothing. They have nothing to offer the US. They don’t have any clear polices that make sense for this era and they are not true Republicans. I can tell you that because I’ve been a Republican for 70 years. You people know nothing about economics because if you did you would see the Bush administration has made a mess of this country. If you can’t see past your own insulated life, then no one can help you. This country needs new leadership and this will be the second time in my life that I’m voting for a Democrat.
September 10th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
“She is enormously popular; in every way she’s like the most popular girl in middle school. Even men who think she is a poor choice and won’t vote for her can’t quit smiling when talking about her because she is a ‘babe’.
Her husband works a union job on the North Slope for BP and is a champion snowmobile racer. He arranges his work schedule so he can fish for salmon in Bristol Bay for a month or so in summer. Sarah and her whole family are avid hunters.
She’s smart.
Like most Alaskans, she favors drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. She has questioned if the loss of sea ice is linked to global warming.”
The first paragraph probably explain why this bitter jealous woman has posted this compendium of rumor, out-of-context numbers and in some instances, downright lies. Sarah Palin will lose the unattractive woman’s vote, but most are already Dems.
The rest is a fine reason to vote for her… and John McCain.

All about living in TODAY, September 11, 2008…TODAY is our forever…don’t take anything for granted, enjoy every moment!! Stay in the present and respectly love, the gift of life of ALL living things (ANIMALS YOUR WIFE/HUSBAND), NO KILLING!!

Com’on, you wouldn’t support Hitler, how can you in a sound state of Mind, in 2008, support people who enjoy killing??? WAKE UP!! Can you pull the trigger on an innocent person, can you pull the trigger on your dog, stop accepting KILLING of innocent BEINGS~!! Protect our native animals, POLAR BEAR! Protect, VETS, McCain voted against them, READ USA!!
September 11th, 2008 at 1:57 am
It’s amazing how brainwashed liberal democrats are, I suspect a lot of them are minimum wage workers lacking the motivation to do the things that make any of us successful, and have thus become dependent of democrat handouts and free programs that responsible productive citizens provide for themselves. How can anyone read this woman’s claims and not smell the wine?( sour grapes).
September 11th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Good grief Grace. I am an animal lover, a foster mom for dogs and horses, and only buy meat that’s organic and free-range. I do not condone killing of animals just to have a head on the wall or a rug on the floor. But let me educate you: if hunters don’t thin out the population of deer, elk and cariboo, the herds get too large and they ALL suffer and suffer long and painful deaths from starvation. They starve! There’s not enough food for all of them. I saw the picture of Ms. Palin with her cariboo kill and I’d wager that she had steaks in her freezer from it. Are you a vegetarian? A vegan? Are you wearing leather shoes?
September 12th, 2008 at 6:11 am
Bravo Anne,
The republicans as usual have beat up the “liberal” media so they are afraid to do what used to be there job. It is good to see someone put info out there facts that any of us can check. May be a good bumper sticker for this campaign would be “Its the Hyprocisy Stupid” or “Sometimes a Pit Bull in Lipstick is still a Pit Bull”.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:34 am
LOL sndi— the pitbull remark is a jewel — I can not believe NO press here on the “interview” with Charlie Gibson–no press here about the interviews with Mc Cain and Obama from last nite either—
September 13th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
I don’t believe a word of it. Jackie
September 27th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Anne,
Have you seriously been this angry since 1996? There are support groups for anger management, and I think you would sleep better at night, if you could find your happy place…
I can appreciate that you have had a bad experience with Governor Palin. Not everyone is going to get along, BUT if you aren’t happy with her decision, then get off your BUTT and go get involved and make a difference.
Does any of this anger have to do with what she wrote in your year book, or that she married the popular boy at school?
Are you still in High School?
A vacation, and a trip to the “real-world” might do you some good.
My son was born in Russia, and his life and living conditions are something to write about.
Not your pathetic attempt to be mad at the girl who worked hard and got everything she set her mind out to achieve!
I’m sure Governor Palin isn’t perfect, and believe me I will do my research on her, JUST as I’ve attempted to do research on B.O. aka: Senator “Mr. Present” - Does he really have that much of an ego? I’ve research B.O. and from his own resources, I am even more determined, to vote against him and his “LEFT” cronies.
October 1st, 2008 at 1:22 am
To “Dire Weevil” & “Joey” and whoever else thinks they can “debunk” this letter:
Neither Newsweek or FactCheck.org make any mention of this letter in fact this is what they say: “We’ll be looking into other charges in an e-mail by a woman named Anne Kilkenny for a future story….”
And guess what? There was NEVER a future story, so get YOUR “facts” straight HA!
P.S.- This letter is in fact REAL, that is why it hasn’t been labeled an “internet rumor”, nobody wants to touch it, they know there’s no way to “debunk” facts and they don’t want to be the only idiot/fool out there calling the truth a “rumor”.

for non liberal screaming idiots - you need to look into why this one woman would write this. its OBVIOUS. She has a grudge. there are NO substantive facts that support anything other than this woman has a score to settle. matters not though because the liberals will get what they want. a civil war.
October 8th, 2008 at 5:42 pm
If this woman was legitimate, she would have the courage to come out from under the rock she’s emailing from and face the media with her accusations. When I read “she hates me”, I instantly smelled a rat. This is a vendetta and personal observations meant to smear Gov. Palin. Face the press and cameras you coward. There will always be bitterness and envy from those who are less successful and who feel the need to destroy when they someone doesn’t do things their way. It is so sad that there are those out there who may be undecided and base their vote on this bitter woman who clearly needs a Prozac.
October 9th, 2008 at 10:02 am
this lady ( Anne)has been out from under the rock– on the evening news–
I saw her myself—- ( phone in hand ringing constantly)
Sarah started out as a smoke screen— to keep folks from looking at the issues
but after her interviews most people see her as is — not to bright –a republican puppet– that “you betch ya ” talk just doesnt appeal to me–
but time is running out— less than a month until elections
I am still looking for the issues to be discussed– by both parties–
does no one find it odd that Sarah is under investigation by the feds and then her husband gets a supeona for testimony and then its revoked–
no one should be above the law– not democrats or republicans —
let us not forget– freedom of speech is a right — and we all have proved it here — havent we—
we need at this point to look at who can do the best job as president– I dont trust Sarah at this point — to much lipstick and “winking ” for me–
October 17th, 2008 at 9:45 am
how odd —- since Sarah was found to be guilty of a “ethics ” violation
no one has anything to say —
and just exactly why isnt there any kind of reprimand for this ?
if it were just a everyday person we would be unemployed
so Anne wasnt to far off the mark —was she ?
November 5th, 2009 at 11:01 pm
Just had to doa comment here in reply to Fact Checker.
The charges of “ethics” violations against Palin have been dismissed and declared unfounded. This was done only after the election was over. Very curious timing.
